Life can sometimes get so hectic, doesn't it? In those moments I try to stop myself and take a deep breath. I have come to learn that in the clutter of noise, activity and just life in general, I can loose sight of what is important and I feel disconnected. My spirit feels restless. I did not use to pay too much attention to spiritual clutter until I read this:
When your life is free of clutter it becomes much easier to fully experience and appreciate such spiritual qualities as: peace of mind, intuition, inner wisdom, gratitude and appreciation, joy, stillness, being in service, being fully conscious, open to receiving guidance from a Higher Source, living with compassion and generosity, and experiencing the ordinary as extraordinary. When chaos and clutter — inside and out— pull you off center, these spiritual qualities can be blocked from expressing through you (Bella Sparks).
How truthful that is. Clutter-- inside and out-- can keep us from appreciating the little things that makes us happy, makes us laugh and feel centered. These are some of the things that I am thankful for today:
A surprise delivery of fall color blooms from the fiance that need no words for me to undertand its meaning...
A quiet reading place around the corned under the shade of fall splendor...
Laughs from an older boy acting like a puppy while carrying around and playing with a blanket...
Wise words to nurture my spirit...
A quote on my inspirational calendar reminding me that sometimes we need stillness and quiet...
These are just a few of the things I am thankful for this week.
What about you? What little things are you thankful for?
There are so many things to be thankful for. Even in the midst of hard times I see God's goodness everywhere. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteAwww what a lovely little feel good post! There is so much for us to be thankful for, and I am glad you took the time to appreciate the simple things, and the beautiful, which those flowers truly are! I am thankful that I had a good rest, and get to start running again today in the beautiful colors of fall!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you start running back again today. I know you were a bit dissapoined after Chicago but you got this! Enjoy this fall weather!
DeleteI needed to see those pretty flowers, on such a wet day in my area!
ReplyDeleteLove these bursts of color and joyful inspirational neutrals MA... especially the daily quote. I'm finding this so so true lately: "...even great ideas can drown out His voice." It's easy to become overwhelmed under any circumstance, good or bad. Wonderful post and reminder to be still and be grateful :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine. You are so right about becoming overwhelmed under good and bad circumstances. I find myself getting overwhelmed thinking about the year ahead even though it is all for good.
DeleteLoved seeing all your photos but I have to admit, my heart jumped as I am also reading Whispers of Hope currently :) I was your neighbor this at Coffee for Your Heart & am so glad!
ReplyDeleteOh, isn't it amazing? I really love how Beth Moore changed the format from previous devotionals. I find that this devotional really helps me to "center" my intentions and thoughts as I get ready to pray. thank you for stopping by.
DeleteFeeling like its time to clean out a spare room to make a reading/writing space. Maybe I'll do that this weekend. Love reconnecting with you, friend.
ReplyDeleteSame here, Beth. It's been kind of chaotic. And even closed Facebook because of all the drama.
