I love going to the gym but sometimes I just do not feel like being around people and I decide to work at home. I do not have a lot of equipment-- just the necessities and one of my favorites is the kettlebell. You will notice that I have no shoes in these photos and is just because I love to walk around the house barefooted. It is the island girl in me. Anyhow, one of the my favorite kettlebell workout is shoulder workouts that require only one kettlebell-- because that is all I have at the time. :-) This is my favorite routine because not only does it targets the shoulders but also other muscle groups.
1-arm kbell swing
Targets: Shoulders, back, hips, glutes, legs. Do 12-15 reps. For more advanced people, add more sets.
bend-over row
Targets: shoulders, back, triceps. Do 2-3 set of 10-12 reps.
goblet squat
Targets: legs, glutes, back. Do 2-3 set of 10-12 reps.
overhead squats
Targets: Shoulders, arms, back, hips, glutes, legs. Do 2-3 set of 10-12 reps.
kettlebell swing
Targets: Shoulders, back, hips, glutes, legs. Do 12-15 reps. For more advanced people, add more sets. Watch your back when swinging the kettlebell; you swing as you thrust from the hip.
I really like this workout because it allows me maximum effort in a shorter period of time... plus I can do it at home. Kettlebells can be cumbersome at first but once you get used to handling them, they will become your new favorite workout tool.
Do you have or like kettlebells? Any favorite exercise?
You are serious about your kettle bells. Who was photographing you during your workout? I have tried them and they are serious business! #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know, right? I actually used a trick a friend showed me. I recorded the workout with my iPhone video and then later took screen shots of the images I liked. Which counts for the poor angle of some of the photos.

ReplyDeleteI don't even own kettle bells - I have a kettle bell work out video from Bob Harper & its tough with hand weights. I think it'll break my arms off if I use the real deal.
ReplyDeleteLove me some kettlebells and at-home workouts. Thanks for sharing! #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteI love kettlebells! They have become my strength training of choice #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteI am all about working out at home–the gym is not my happy place, but that mat in the living room feels just right!
ReplyDeleteI love love my kettle bell and wish they weren't so expensive because I want a heavier one now that I am really comfortable with mine. I always do my home workouts barefoot unless I do them outside, it strengthens my feet which helps with running :) Great moves :)
ReplyDeleteChristy, I know! I got mine at Target and it was on sale. But I refuse to pay for the crazy price they ask for. Ok, good... so im not the only one kicking it barefooted while working out at home. :)
DeleteThis is one exercise I haven't tried. As instructor, we have to pick and choose which fitness routine or workout programs we are going to pursue. I hear it is an excellent workout also. Visiting from the #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteTrue sometimes you just want to workout at home. I do all of these workouts as well with weights but haven't done them with kettle bells yet. #wowlinkup
ReplyDeleteI don't have a kettle bell yet, but alot of other equipment. Jillian Michaels has a kettle ball workout on YouTube for free. I like to do it, and just use a hand weight works great #wowlinkup.
ReplyDeleteI like your concept very much. I will come and visit your site often.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an awesome kettle bell regimen! I enjoy working out at home at times too!
ReplyDeleteI've tried kettlebells and really wanted to like it. Not so much. Looks like a great workout!
ReplyDeleteThis is great, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to learn more about this exercise. I actually wrote a post about a 20 minute kettlebell workout that I saw in a fitness mag. I'll be linking to this post from my website (if you do not mind)
